A: The Izuku Big Bang is a Big Bang fan event centered around Midoriya Izuku of the manga/anime series Boku No Hero Academia (My Hero Academia) by Horikoshi Kohei.
Q: What is a Big Bang?
A: A Big Bang, or Bang, is a fan event meant to create collaborative works of fanfiction and fanart based on specific characters and/or a theme. Writers begin by writing a story and the artists claim the chance to provide an accompanying art piece based on an early draft or summary.
Q: Will ships be allowed?
A: Yes, ships will be allowed as long as the main focus of the fic is on Izuku.
Q: What is the creation minimum?
A: Writers must write at least 5k words for their fic, while artist must complete at least 1 colored piece.
Q: How do I join the Bang? Can anyone join?
A: Anyone of any skill level is allowed to join the Bang as long as they are willing to commit to finishing a full piece! If you wish to join, you will need to submit an applicant as either a writer, artist, pinch hitter, or beta once the apps are available. Applications will be released on January 10th.
Q: Is Discord required to join?
A: Yes, as we will be doing a majority of our communication through Discord, having a Discord account is required to join the Bang.
Q: Do I need to have a Twitter or Tumblr to participate?
A: No, Twitter and Tumblr are not required to participate. However, you should have somewhere to post your finished piece.
Q: Can I apply as more than one type of contributor (artist or writer)?
A: Yes, you can sign up for a max of two pieces. This means that you can sign up to illustrate two pieces, write two pieces, or complete one of each.
Q: Can I sign up with a friend as a prearranged pair?
A: Yes, prearranged pairs will be allowed so long as you let a mod know once you join the Discord server!
Q: How will partners be assigned?
A: Mods will be assigning the partners after the Summary Selection period. Artists and betas will be asked to submit which fics they would most like to illustrate/edit and will be assigned to a writer based on the submitted preferences.
Q: Do you have any requirements for size or programs used when making the artwork?
A: Artists need to complete one fully colored piece with a background. For traditional art, photos/scans must be reasonably high quality. Other than that, there are no requirements, so feel free to work with whatever size/program you think is best.
Q: What is a pinch hitter?
A: A pinch hitter is someone who steps in to fill a role when another participant drops out. They are someone who’s able to help out in a pinch.
Q: Can minors participate in the Bang?
A: Yes, minors can definitely participate in the Bang! During the pairing process, mods will make sure that NSFW summaries are only viewed by artists and betas that are 18 years or older and comfortable with the topic. Only mods that are 18+ will have access to the NSFW summaries and channels.
